The best time to visit the Tatras

The Tatra Mountains are beautiful year-round, but the best time to visit for hiking is during the summer months (June to September). The weather is mild, the trails are clear, and the mountain huts are open. However, for those that enjoy enjoy winter sports, the Tatras are also a great destination in the winter, with plenty of opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing.

Tatra National Park, Poland

Tatra National Park in Poland is the largest national park in the country and home to some of the highest peaks in the Tatras. The park offers a variety of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging climbs. Some of the most popular trails include the Morskie Oko Lake (Walk 10) and the ascent of Giewont (Walk 5).

Pieniny National Park, Poland

Pieniny National Park, located in the eastern part of the Tatras, is known for its dramatic limestone cliffs and the Dunajec River (Walk 3). The park offers a variety of hiking trails, as well as opportunities for rafting, kayaking, and cycling.

Tatra National Park, Slovakia

Tatra National Park in Slovakia is the largest national park in Slovakia and shares a border with Tatra National Park in Poland. The Slovakian side of the Tatras offers a similar range of hiking trails and outdoor activities. Some of the most popular trails include the strenuous ascent of Kriván (Walk 14) and the easy circuit of Štrbské Pleso (Staroboleslav Lake, Short walk and picnic 8).

Slovensky Raj National Park, Slovakia

Slovensky Raj National Park, located in central Slovakia, is known for its unique limestone formations, deep canyons, and cascading waterfalls. The park offers a variety of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging climbs.

Low Tatra National Park, Slovakia

Low Tatra National Park, located in central Slovakia, is a smaller and less rugged version of the High Tatras. The park offers a variety of hiking trails, as well as opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing.

Mala Fatra National Park, Slovakia

Mala Fatra National Park, located in western Slovakia, is known for its forested hills, deep valleys, and picturesque villages. The park offers a variety of hiking trails, as well as opportunities for cycling and horseback riding.
