This new 9th edition of our guidebook to walking on Mallorca has been increased in size by 50%, with many new walks. It has also been completely redesigned in a wider format – with larger type and no mapping lost in the gutter.
There are new topo hiking maps with contours at 25m intervals: based on OpenStreetMap mapping, the maps now show waypoints, and free downloadable GPS tracks are available for all the walks.
Colour coding on the contents page enables you to see at a glance the grading of various treks.
This was the first walking guide for Mallorca, the guide that won Sunflower the Sunday Times ‘Oscar’ for best travel guide — and eventually made the island one of the most popular walking areas in Europe.
The author has lived on Mallorca for over 35 years and knows the island intimately. She has also been able to recheck most of the routes in the year before lockdown — as well as adding several new walks and incorporating both the GR221 (‘Drystone Route’) and the GR222 (still a work in progress). These long-distance walks have been incorporated in the day walks.
There are also 6 car tours with accompanying fold-out touring map, as well as plans of Palma and Soller, bus, train and boat timetables and panels of information on Mallorcan customs and features of the landscape.
A free online update service informs users of any route-change information.
